Recycling Workshop for Students/Groups

recycling workshop for students

Did you know that less than 10% of plastic waste actually gets recycled? For students growing up in a world grappling with climate change, pollution, and resource scarcity, understanding sustainability is no longer optional, it’s essential.

That’s why we created the “Plastic to Purpose” Recycling Workshop a hands-on educational experience designed to teach students about plastic types, the recycling process, and how waste can be transformed into useful products.

🧠 Why Plastic Education Matters

We interact with plastic every single day, from water bottles and lunch containers to packaging and electronics. But most of us don’t understand the differences between PET, HDPE, LDPE, and other plastic types, or why some are recyclable while others aren’t.

Our workshop bridges this gap through interactive learning, giving students real-world knowledge that connects environmental science with everyday life.

🧪 What Happens in the Workshop?

This isn’t a lecture. It’s an experience. Students will:

  • Identify different types of plastic using touch, sight, and real-world packaging examples

  • Learn how recycling actually works – what’s possible and what isn’t

  • Operate safe, kid-friendly recycling tools to shred plastic waste

  • Transform shredded plastic into a new product like a keychain, coaster, or badge

  • Take home their creation and a certificate of participation

By the end of the session, students won’t just understand recycling, they’ll feel empowered to take action.

Thinking of buying sheets, see what can be done!
