Interior Trends for 2022

With a new year starting, it is time to immerse yourself in what is coming in the world of interior design. With us spending so much time at home over the past 2 years, it has led to a home renovation boom. With housing prices just out of this world, most of us are enjoying updating our homes instead.

Trend 1 – Shapes

The biggest trend we are seeing emerge is the searching for furniture that is circle/rounded. This gives a feeling of calming, flowing and relaxing in the home. It is no surprise considering what we have been through. Users have been searching from coffee tables through to kitchen islands. Curved edges are definitely a positive with kids who are table height!

Trend 2 – Outside In

It has always been part of our design, but more so now with bringing plants and nature indoors. Giving people that natural feeling while indoors. We all understand how important self-care and mental health is, so connecting with nature throughout your home makes you feel grounded and aware. What is better than having the smell of beautiful plants surrounding you?

Trend 3 – Colours

To go with bringing the outside in, the colours that are trending are natural, earthy bases. This helps to stay relaxed and slow down when you are in your home. Since we spent many months at home, having loud colours dominate our home have become exhausting so for 2022 it will be about taking a step back and recovering from the year that has been.

Trend 4 – Luxury

Again, since we spent so many days at home over the past couple of years renovating our spaces to incorporate luxury has been on the top of everyone’s list. By creating spaces in the bathroom that involve zen and time to recharge allow us to pamper ourselves without heading out. Using warm tones and textures as well in our bedroom help for better sleep and that sense of cocooning.

Trend 5 – Recycling/Upcycling

This may not be the one for everyone, but it is something we all need to get behind. Instead of buying new, think can you fix or upcycle it into something new. When looking at furnishings and improvements can you purchase 2nd hand or even recycled material before buying brand new. There are many options available and if we all make a change, it all makes a difference. We need to be conscious of what we buy and what we are telling companies we want.

We would love to hear about the trends you have chosen in your renovations.
