Glass VERSE Recycled Plastic

Recycled-Plastic-Verse

We believe that each building material has its own place. Though if we are looking at glass verse recycled plastic for the same application we believe that recycled plastic comes out on top!

The most obvious issue with glass is that for the most part once it is dropped, it is gone, smashed. This is a huge issue with safety as well. Though if you drop plastic, it will nearly bounce back to you. Which can be super handy when using around the office or home and looking out for others.

Maintenance

Did you know that bacteria can grow on glass?! With that in mind, glass needs to be cleaned regularly and we don’t even want to start on the fingerprints. Therefore if you are looking for a table, we would totally opt for a recycled plastic alternative. Nothing can grow on our HDPE plastic.

Are you wanting a minimalist look with your new design? Glass gives this effortless feel and gives rooms a light and airy feel. Though in addition to your glass, imagine sharing with your visitors that particular furniture pieces in your home or office reused 200 milk cartons.

Recyclability

Did you know that glass can be recycled an infinite amount of times without losing its strength or durability? Just fantastic and a reason that I believe we need to use both glass and recycled plastic throughout our offices and homes for true sustainability. Each material has its strength and weakness, but when used together we can have the best of both worlds.

Below are some examples of when to use glass or recycled plastic.

When to use glass:

Windows

Fencing

Doors

When to use recycled plastic

Tables

Chairs

Benchtops

Cupboards

Bookshelves

It is best to choose your material on an application. As you can see both glass and recycled plastic have their pros and cons and should be used in conjunction with each other.
