A day in the life at RL

Untitled-design-1

Each day is different here in the Resourceful Living Workshop, though it is always a fun and exciting environment. We want to give an insight in to what a day in the life at RL may look like and the process to creating our recycled plastic masterpieces.

  1.  Coffee. This is a must, and this step is never skipped.
  1. Check orders and make a decision on what colour sheets we need to make for that day. At this current time, we are limited to two sheets. Depending on the orders, we either make one or two.
  1. Weigh out the plastic required for the sheet/s
  1. Prep the sheet/s and put in the heat press to let cook away.
  1. We all know what’s at 10am – smoko, it’s usually getting hot by now so it’s the perfect time to have a break!
  1. Whilst the sheets are cooking, we take this time to assess what other task need to be completed in the day.
  1. Between this and lunch we cut products that are required and injection mould coaster and tiles to keep our stock levels up.
  1. Lunch, thank God. Starving!!
  1. The sheets is now moved to the cold press where it will stay until the next day to cool down completely. A second sheet is put in. This tends to not take as long to cook as the heat press is already at temperature.
  1. Time for computer work inside, this is something we look forward to in the summer months. The aircon is pumping by this point.
  1. Check the second sheet and move it across to the cold press also. A workshop tidy and reset is completed before our favourite step of all.
  1. HOME TIME woohoo.

The best part about working a day in the life at Resourceful Living is the flexibility and variety, two days are hardly ever the same. We definitely face different challenges but our wins always out way these challenges.
